“This was a really challenging activity for beginners, but our amazing guide, Eniko (I hope that’s how you spell his name!), made all the difference! He was incredibly patient, offering constant support, reassurance, and words of encouragement that helped us push through. Even though I wasn’t able to fully complete the trek, i still had an amazing time. The scenery was breathtaking, and the area he took us to was absolutely stunning. The experience was made even better with a cozy campfire, veggie sausages, and delicious snacks—a perfect way to warm up after the trek! Thank you, Eniko, for making this such a memorable and enjoyable adventure. Highly recommend this…”

“The trio was fun and it was nice to see some more of Rovenami. The lesson part of it didn't really happen however and getting any real tuition had to be asked for. However, the guide tried so hard to make the day nice and a good experience for is. The arctic bbq for lunch was a wonderful experience too! Walking back up the slopes......a bit tricky as so slippy. Luckily the guide waxed our skis to help with this but then they had so much grip we couldn't really ski!”

Ski Trekking Safari in Lapland

4.Ski Trekking Safari in Lapland

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 26 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $131

You’ll leave Rovaniemi with a professional guide, warm clothing, boots, and backcountry skis for a gentle trip into Taiga forest and snowy open country. Expect about 1 to 1.5 hours on skis, followed by Finnish campfire snacks, coffee, tea, and a barbecue.

“The guide was very nice and friendly but also inexperienced. I believe winter is a peak season and companies hire just anyone to conduct the tour. We went with ski to a lake which was slushy and one participant fell into a hole. Then guide wanted to take the group to forest but failed to guide us there. So all in all, it was more of a checklist crossed but wouldn't suggest this tour.”

“Reading this, you must consider that we were two intermediate level cross skiing individuals so we picked this organized activity instead of getting on our own to a cross country ski resort. The description lead us to believe that we would be in a natural offsite area were we would see the true out of beaten path nature. Based on the price that we paid, this activity was far from what we expected. First, the two of us were grouped with 6 other absolute beginners. We ended up doing back and forth in an absolutely flat bottom open air part of a resort with nothing close to wilderness. Our guide…”

7.Nocturnal Skiing: Experience the Arctic’s Magic

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 21 reviews · 2 hours 30 minutes (approx.) · from $123

Meet guide Kyle at a family cabin near Lake Norvajärvi for a 2.5-hour night ski through snowy forest, open swamps, and across the frozen lake. You’ll get skis and a headlamp, learn about Arctic life, then warm up by a fire. Pickup is available for an added fee.

“Kyle was a consummate professional from start to finish. He checked the forecast and offered to change me to a daytime tour since Northern Lights were unlikely (though I kept the nighttime tour). He picked me up and dropped me off at my accommodations and ensured I was aware ahead of time of any gear I needed to have (and what gear he would have). He was personable, accommodating and very patient (my first time trying cross-country skiing!). The scenery was incredible, and Kyle went out of his way to include certain touches to make the tour unique and ensure that I enjoyed myself. Definitely recommend!!”
